HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is strengthened by its many residents who all bring different perspectives and life experiences; and

WHEREAS, On November 12, 2021, Richard "Dick" Albert Ladner, a resident of Palatine, celebrated his 100th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ladner was born in Chicago in 1921 and has spent the majority of his life living in the Chicago area, including his college years in which he attended and graduated from Loyola University; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ladner served his country during World War II as an auto mechanic stationed in Europe; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ladner married his sweetheart, Mary Helen "Babe" Michiels, in 1945, and they celebrated 73 wonderful years together; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ladner and his wife graced the world with eight children, Phillip, Mark, Madeleine, Barbara, Carl, Marie, Paul, and Karen; and

WHEREAS, Richard Ladner's eight children have graced the world with 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;; and

WHEREAS, The Village of Palatine and the State of Illinois are better and stronger because of residents like Richard Ladner and the contributions they have made to others over many years of service and sacrifice; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Richard "Dick" Albert Ladner on his 100th birthday and thank him for his service and his contributions to his family, his community, and his country; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Richard Ladner as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
