HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate John Lampinen on the
4occasion of his retirement as editor and senior vice president
5of the Daily Herald newspaper; and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Lampinen was born in Waukegan and is a
7lifelong resident of the Northwest suburbs of Illinois and a
8graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign; and
 
9    WHEREAS, For all but a short time since he began as a
10reporter for the weekly edition in 1973, John Lampinen has
11worked for the Daily Herald, the third largest daily newspaper
12in Illinois; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Lampinen has received numerous regional,
14state, and national awards for his reporting and commentary on
15events and issues in the suburbs and state government,
16including the Ethics Award for journalists in 1997 presented
17by the Chicago Headline Club; and
 
18    WHEREAS, In 2019, John Lampinen was inducted into the
19Lincoln League of Journalists by the Illinois Associated Press
20Media Editors, an honor which recognizes those who have
21provided exemplary service to other journalists and newspapers

1in Illinois; and
 
2    WHEREAS, In 2001, John Lampinen was named editor and
3senior vice president and has faithfully served in those
4positions for over 20 years; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate John Lampinen on his long career and his
8retirement from the Daily Herald newspaper and wish him the
9best in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to John Lampinen as a symbol of our respect and
12esteem.
