HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives learned with great sadness of the shooting of Officer Tyler J. Bailey of the Bradley Police Department, who was shot in the line of duty on December 29, 2021 and remains in critical condition; and

WHEREAS, Officer Bailey was born in Kankakee on May 7, 1994; he is the son of Darin Bailey and Danielle Hess; he married his wife, Sydney, in October 2021; he is one of six children and has three step-siblings; and

WHEREAS, Officer Bailey received his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University; from there, he began his journey to become a police officer; he attended the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy, where his drive to be a morally and ethically sound officer grew; and

WHEREAS, Officer Bailey is known for being passionate about his role in law enforcement and wanting to help his community; and

WHEREAS, Outside of his career, Officer Bailey is a dog dad, an avid hunter and fisherman, a dedicated White Sox fan, a NASCAR enthusiast, and a quality husband, son, grandson, brother, and man; and

WHEREAS, The people of Illinois are fortunate to be served by the brave and dedicated law enforcement officers of our State, such as Officer Bailey, who risk their lives daily while carrying out their essential duties; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our profound respect for Officer Tyler J. Bailey and hope for a full and speedy recovery; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the bravery and sacrifice of Officer Bailey, who risked his life while protecting the citizens of Bradley; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Officer Bailey and the Bradley Police Department as an expression of our deepest appreciation.
