HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Daron
4Richard "D.T." Tunks of Peoria and Conley, Georgia, who passed
5away on January 11, 2022; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was born to Richard Martin and
7Barbara Ann (Carlson) Tunks in Peoria on July 21, 1967; he was
8raised in Peoria, where he received his education from
9District 150 schools; he attended Calvin Coolidge Grammar
10School and several high schools before earning his G.E.D.; he
11attended Bradley University, where he became a member of the
12Epsilon Kappa chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and
13served as Anchor #6 of S.S. Determination in Spring 1987; he
14received his bachelor's degree from Robert Morris College; he
15married Shann Lindsey in Peoria on June 1, 1995; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was the sole owner and operator of
17Tunks & Sons Delivery; he began his business as a furniture
18delivery company in 2003 before evolving it into an intrastate
19moving company in 2007; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist
21Church on January 23, 2000; he was a member of St. Paul Baptist
22Church, where he belonged to the Drama Ministry; and

1    WHEREAS, Daron Tunks loved singing, gambling, and playing
2pool; he was an avid chess player; he was a devoted and loving
3husband and a protective father; he will be remembered as the
4protector of his family and a comedian to his friends; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was preceded in death by his parents
6and grandparents; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Daron Tunks is survived by his wife and partner
8of 35 years, La Shann Monise Tunks; his children, Tyshell
9Tanae', Kevin Benard, Jade Marie, Deja Monise, Daron Richard
10II, and Jaron Calvin; his grandchildren, Maliyah Marie-Vonsae,
11Shyla Redina-Chante', Jhase Anthony Richard, Dominik
12Braxton-Lee, Melodi La'Rae, Lyric Ka'Mari Ann, Jewel Denise,
13JeQuez De'Audrey II, Daron Richard III, Nyla Joi Monise, and
14Jaron Calvin II; his sisters, Dawn Elizabeth (John), Rose
15Marie (Gregory), and Linda Kathleen (Michael); and a host of
16nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, surrogate sons, fraternity
17brothers, and friends; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we mourn the passing of Daron Richard "D.T." Tunks and extend
21our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
22knew and loved him; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Daron Tunks as an expression of our
3deepest sympathy.
