HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the International
4Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing
5Iron Workers Union on recently holding their 44th convention,
6which occurs once every five years; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The International Association of Bridge,
8Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union is
9a proud member of the Illinois AFL-CIO and a trade association
10with beginnings in the 1890s; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Iron Workers Union represents 120,000 members
12across North America; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Iron workers build safely and skillfully,
14ensuring that quality bridges and infrastructure improvements
15are made correctly and on time; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Iron workers are the "Bridge Builders of
17Illinois" as demonstrated by the improvement of at least 290
18bridges since the beginning of Rebuild Illinois; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Iron workers are doing their part in the
20renewable energy sector to help carefully construct wind

1turbines, helping power Illinois for generations to come;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we congratulate and thank the Iron Workers District Council of
6Chicago & Vicinity and the Iron Workers St. Louis District
7Council for their invaluable work on the infrastructure of our
8state, as they are the working people that conduct the manual
9labor stemming from 30% of the planned distribution spending
10of the Rebuild Illinois capital plan; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
12presented to the business managers of all Iron Worker Local
13Unions in the State of Illinois as an expression of our esteem
14and respect for the daily work they and their members do to
15make Illinois a leading state for world-class infrastructure.
