HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald D. Ladley, who passed away on January 15, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley was born in Springfield to Roy Clinton and Loraine MacMillan Ladley on May 24, 1938; he graduated from Illinois College with a degree in business, history, and education; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a local real estate broker and as an owner of real estate, but he was happiest when he could share his knowledge with others by helping individuals start their own real estate careers; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley took an interest in his community by volunteering and serving on the boards of the Springfield Association for Retarded Citizens (SPARC), United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), the Springfield Jaycees, the Rotary Club of Springfield, the Ansar Shriners, and the American Red Cross; he served as chairman of the Illinois Historic Sites Commission, the Springfield Historic Sites Commission, and the Sangamon County Historical Society; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley was actively and personally involved in community service; he volunteered as a tour guide for the Clayville Historical Site in Pleasant Plains and for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library; and

WHEREAS, In addition to Ronald Ladley's community involvement, his personal achievements were quite extensive; he was president of the Capitol Area Association of Realtors in 1987 and received the Realtor of the Year Award in 1989 and the Realtor Hall of Fame Award in 1995; he influenced legislation to provide State workers with health benefits during the Ogilvie administration; he was Supervisor of Research Studies for the Illinois State Superintendent of Public Instruction and served as an Analyst of Schools for the Illinois Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley spent much of his life volunteering on behalf of the Sangamon County Republican Central Committee as well as for the statewide and national GOP; and

WHEREAS, Family and friends admired Ronald Ladley for being a well-spoken, fun-loving individual, who could be counted on to speak well of other people; his warm smile, gentle caring heart, wisdom, kind personality, and generosity will be greatly missed; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley was preceded in death by his spouses, Jayne Millwee Ladley and Lynda Long Ladley; his parents; his siblings, Stanley Ladley and Marjorie Ladley Kimmel; his grandson, Jacob Brown; and his great-grandson, Jayse Tyler Goodwin; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Ladley is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Tom) Leepper, Ronda Ladley, and Judith Brown; his grandchildren, Kimberly, Heather, Jesse, Desiree, and Zachary; his great-grandchildren, Shayne, Alyissa, Avery, and Bella; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his loving companion, Mary Renner; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald D. Ladley and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Ronald Ladley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
