| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, During a winter storm that hit the State of | 3 | | Illinois on February 2, 2022, Plainfield Fire Protection | 4 | | District Chief Jon Stratton received an emergency call shortly | 5 | | after 7:30 a.m.; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The emergency call was for a pregnant woman in | 7 | | labor; the couple was traveling to Edward Hospital and called | 8 | | 911 when they were at the intersection of Fort Beggs Drive and | 9 | | Route 59 in Plainfield; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Chief Stratton arrived at the scene and directed | 11 | | the couple to relocate their car to a nearby parking lot prior | 12 | | to emergency personnel arriving to assist with the delivery; | 13 | | and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Through the assistance of emergency personnel and | 15 | | the Plainfield Fire Protection District, a baby girl was born | 16 | | at 7:41 a.m.; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, In addition to Chief Stratton, Lieutenant Bryan | 18 | | Gallup, Firefighter/Medic Bill Cascone, and Firefighter/Medic | 19 | | Jim Brereton from Engine 1941 assisted with the delivery; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Firefighters/Medics Robert Martins and Steve |

| 1 | | Tatroe assisted from Ambulance 1914; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Firefighters/Medics Brandon Cymerman and Scott | 3 | | Sheldon assisted from Ambulance 1944; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The father cut the newborn's umbilical cord | 5 | | before the mother and baby were taken to AMITA Health Saint | 6 | | Joseph Medical Center in Joliet by ambulance; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The first responders acted swiftly, helping to | 8 | | safely bring a new life into the world despite the difficult | 9 | | circumstances the weather presented; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 11 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 12 | | we recognize the Plainfield Fire Protection District and the | 13 | | emergency personnel who assisted in delivering a baby girl | 14 | | during a winter storm; and be it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That we wish the best for the family of the | 16 | | newborn; and be it further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That we remember the courage and security our | 18 | | fire departments bring to our communities in times of need; | 19 | | and be it further
