HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Hattie Lee Cain-Fulton of Chicago, on the occasion of her 99th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton was born in Leflore County, Mississippi to Alfred Cain and Ida Mae Ellis on February 6, 1922; at the age of four, she moved with her family to the North Side of Chicago before relocating to Chicago's South Side; she graduated from DuSable High School and completed nursing school; she married Joseph Fulton; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton worked at the University of Chicago; she has volunteered with a number of organizations, including the National Sarcoidosis Society and the Garage Boys; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton is devoted to the duties and responsibilities of motherhood; she has always administered unwavering and unconditional love; even in tough times, she has never hesitated to sacrifice her own comfort for the sake of her family and others; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton is known for being a great cook, a sharp dresser, and a devoted advocate for those in need; she is always willing to provide anyone with a meal and to donate her clothes and shoes to those who need it; she has always been a source of great support by lending a hand so all would know their worth, and she never turns anyone away; she believes every heart needs a family, and she cares for those whose hearts are longing for a family of their own; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton is affectionately called "big mama" and "queen mother"; her life is a perfect example of model citizenship and community leadership; and

WHEREAS, Hattie Cain-Fulton has 14 children, 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish Hattie Lee Cain-Fulton a happy 99th birthday, and we wish her many more healthy and happy years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Hattie Cain-Fulton as an expression of our good wishes.
