1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives would like to congratulate the Lincoln
4 Technical Institute on its 75th anniversary; and

5     WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute is located in the
6 beautiful city of Chicago and has a sister-campus located in
7 Melrose Park; and

8     WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute's Chicago campus
9 was founded in 1902 and was originally known as the Greer
10 College of Automotive Engineering, later becoming the Greer
11 Technical Institute; for more than ten decades, the school
12 trained thousands of students in a variety of trades and
13 vocations; and

14     WHEREAS, The Greer Technical Institute became part of the
15 Lincoln Institute in 1969 and subsequently adopted the name of
16 Lincoln Technical Institute in 1981; and

17     WHEREAS, In 2001, the Norridge and Oak Lawn campuses
18 merged and moved to a more modern facility in Melrose Park; the
19 Melrose Park campus changed its name to Lincoln College of
20 Technology in 2007; and

1     WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute was founded on
2 the principle of keeping our nation positioned as the world's
3 leading economy; as the country turned past World War II, the
4 school provided invaluable training programs to help returning
5 veterans rejoin the workforce; and

6     WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute has provided
7 career training to individuals from all walks of life
8 throughout its history; the students who have attended the
9 schools have launched fulfilling and productive careers; and

10     WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute is extremely
11 proud of the work it have done over the years at the Lincoln
12 College of Technology, the Melrose Park campus, and all of its
13 campuses throughout the nation; and

14     WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute has helped more
15 than a quarter-million Lincoln graduates from all walks of
16 life take their lives in new, rewarding directions by
17 launching careers in the fields they love; therefore, be it

18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19 HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20 we congratulate the Lincoln Technical Institute on the
21 institution's 75th anniversary and commend the achievements of
22 its current and former students; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the Lincoln Technical Institute as a symbol of
3 our esteem and respect.
