HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the St. Francis High School boys varsity basketball team, the Spartans, on an incredible 2021-22 Season; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans compiled a season of 27 wins and 9 losses, winning a regional championship and its first sectional championship since 2013; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans' performance and coaching placed the team in contention for its first state bid since 1989; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans beat two number one seeds in order to reach the super-sectionals in a one-week span; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans reached the elite eight before losing to the eventual runner-up for the state championship at the 3A level; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans finished the season ranked 16th in the State at the 3A level, with a roster including nine honor roll student-athletes, three all-conference players, one all-area player, and a Kane County Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans dramatically raised the standard of its basketball program through playing as a brotherhood and putting in the work despite the obstacles of the pandemic; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans are led by Head Coach Erin Dwyer and Assistant Coaches Nick Carroll, Garrett Garcia, and Tony Perez; and

WHEREAS, The 2021-2022 Spartans are Jack Brennan, Colin Kiesler, Luke Ahern, Freddie Greco, Matt O'Donnell, Sebastian Miller, Cameron Engesser, Brandan Yarusso, William Lyzun, Colin White, Adam Wiborg, Nikolas Rowlan, Sean Killian, Dylan Eichenberger, Kevin Hanson, TJ McMillen, Nicholas Reilley, and Blake Lawson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the St. Francis High School boys varsity basketball team, the Spartans, on a great 2021-2022 season, and we commend the work and dedication the players displayed throughout the season; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Spartans as an expression of our respect and esteem.
