HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the American Legion on
4the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of its founding; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The American Legion was chartered and
6incorporated in 1919 by the United States Congress and is a
7nonpolitical organization where membership is based on serving
8and receiving an honorable discharge; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The American Legion serves as the nation's
10largest wartime veterans service organization with nearly
1112,000 posts in communities throughout the United States and
12has approximately two million members; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The American Legion is known for helping its
14local communities, mentoring youth and advocating for veterans
15by finding them careers, healthcare, and stable housing;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we congratulate the American Legion on the 103rd anniversary
20of its founding, and we wish it many more successful years; and
21be it further

1    RESOLVED, That we recognize the following commanders of
2the 61st Legislative District, Commander Peter Mockapetris of
3the Gurnee American Legion Post, Commander Grover Finn of the
4Zion American Legion Post, Commander John Patterson of the
5Winthrop Harbor American Legion Post, Commander Duane L. Peacy
6of the Waukegan American Legion Post, and Commander Jay
7Jozwiak of the Antioch American Legion Post; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
9presented to the American Legion commanders of the 61st
10Legislative District.
