SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act and Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that a hospital shall maintain a metal detector at each point of entry into the hospital. Provides that a hospital shall ensure that all members of the public, other than the employees of the hospital who display proper credentials, who enter the hospital at a point of entry are subjected to screening by a metal detector. Provides that individuals subject to screening shall include, but not be limited to, individuals in wheelchairs. Defines "point of entry". Effective July 1, 2021.

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is amended by adding Section 6.8 as follows:

Sec. 6.8. Metal detectors required. As used in this Section, "point of entry" means an entrance accessible to the public. "Point of entry" does not include ambulance entrances.

The University of Illinois Hospital shall maintain a metal detector at each point of entry into the University of Illinois Hospital. The University of Illinois Hospital shall ensure that all members of the public, other than the employees of the University of Illinois Hospital who display proper credentials, who enter the University of Illinois Hospital at a point of entry are subjected to screening by a metal detector. Individuals subject to screening under this Section shall include, but not be limited to, individuals in wheelchairs.

Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding Section 7.7 as follows:

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2021.
