SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bernard Gerald "Jerry" Allen Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Allen was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from the De La Salle Academy in Kansas City, Missouri, where he was a Cadet Colonel as a senior; he then attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas and was a member of the championship football team in 1959; he served in the U.S. Navy for four years; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Allen joined IBM as a salesperson and worked there for more than 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Allen was a lifelong learner and armchair archaeologist; he loved to travel and was active in Sun City's bocce and other clubs; he was a loving father and friend; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Allen was preceded in death by his sister, Patti Sanders, and his former wife and the mother of his children, Nancy Micaletti; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Allen is survived by his children, Bernie (Angela) and Laura (Bertram); his grandchildren, Bradley, Audrey, Madeleine, Joseph, and Griffin; and his former wife and friend, Bobbi; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Bernard Gerald "Jerry" Allen Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerry Allen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
