SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald Lee "Demo" DeMarse Jr. of Smithton, who passed away on August 5, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Demo DeMarse was born in East St. Louis on April 29, 1955; and

WHEREAS, Demo DeMarse started his business, Demo's Pizza Cellar, in the basement of a liquor store on 17th Street; he then moved to North Belt West and opened Demo's Sports Bar; and

WHEREAS, Demo DeMarse was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Belleville; he enjoyed golfing, fishing, coaching softball and basketball, and attending his grandsons' baseball games; he loved tending to his yard; and

WHEREAS, Demo DeMarse will be remembered for being a very generous and giving individual who was always ready to lend a hand to his friends and the community; and

WHEREAS, Demo DeMarse was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Sr. and Suzanne (Gerold) DeMarse; his brother, Chuck DeMarse; and his nephew, Tim Frazier; and

WHEREAS, Demo DeMarse is survived by his daughters, Christine (Mike) Todd and Donyelle (Austin) Theis; his grandchildren, Brady Todd, Austin Todd, Cody Todd, and Colton Theis; his brother, Gerry (Susan) DeMarse; his sisters, Liz (Tim) Messbarger and Cynthia (Mike) Biggs; his nieces and nephews, Lauren DeMarse, Megan DeMarse, Austin Frazier, Eric (Katlyn) Frazier, Anna "Toots" (Justin) Dulle, Mike Biggs, Doug (Dawn) Biggs, Jeff (Meaghan) Schoor, and AJ Biggs; his many cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald Lee "Demo" DeMarse Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Demo DeMarse as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
