SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward "Ed" P. Short of Moline, who passed away on January 5, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Ed Short was born to Thomas and Mary (Maruna) Short in Ryan, Iowa on October 8, 1933, the eleventh of twelve children; he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran; he married Janne E. DeBoo at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moline on July 31, 1965; he received his bachelor's degree from St. Ambrose University and his master's degree from Western Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Ed Short worked as a teacher for the Rock Island School District; he retired in 1994 after 25 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Ed Short was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Ed Short was an avid golfer, reader, and master gardener; he loved spending time with his family, especially reading poetry with his granddaughter; and

WHEREAS, Ed Short is survived by his wife; his daughter, Abigail Short; and his granddaughter, Haley Short; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edward "Ed" P. Short and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ed Short as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
