SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Emmett Hosty Sr., who passed away on July 20, 2019 at the age of 70; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hosty Sr. was born to Joan and Thomas E. Hosty Jr. in River Forest on July 19, 1949; he attended St. Luke Grammar School and Fenwick High School; he remained a lifelong resident of River Forest; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hosty Sr. was known to many as "Big Host"; he cherished his relationships with friends and family and took great pride in being the life of the party; he was especially fond of living up to his self-appointed role as "FUR" (Favorite Uncle Rob) to his nieces and nephews, as well as anyone else he could charm into accepting him as such; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hosty Sr. was fun-loving and had a "huge by large" personality with trademarks of quick-witted zingers and one-liners and persuasive, loosely fact-based answers for everything; he loved to share his mysteriously acquired expertise on any given subject, whether it was solicited or not; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hosty Sr. was always good for a joke and was equally fast with a jab; he was sometimes gruff with his delivery but never could disguise the true nature of his big heart; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hosty Sr. was surrounded by family in their shared lakeside home in Coloma, Michigan, his favorite place, when he passed; he is remembered for the good times and loads of laughter he shared; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hosty Sr. was preceded in death by his son, Robert Emmett Hosty Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Robert Hosty Sr. is survived by his daughter, Alice Hosty; his siblings, Thomas (Susan) E. III, Lawrence (Nancy), PJ (Kathleen), Terrence (Ellen), John (Lissa), and Della Marie Hosty; his former spouse, Peggy Cullerton Hosty; and a close clan of relatives and loyal friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing Robert Emmett Hosty Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Hosty Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
