SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James "Jim" G. Hack of Champaign, who
4passed away on December 21, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Hack was born to LeRoy and Emily Ommen Hack in
6Pontiac on August 31, 1940; he married Barbara A. Sterrenberg
7in Cullom on January 28, 1961; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jim Hack was in sales and grain elevator
9construction for many years; he started with Ford-Widholm and
10later worked for Tiffany Industries in St. Louis as the vice
11president of overseas operations, building grain elevators in
12Venezuela and the Dominican Republic; he also worked for Big
13Wheels Fertilizer Applicator in Paxton as a salesman and as
14chief operating officer; he most recently became
15self-employed, owning Jim Hack and Associates, retiring in
162006; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jim Hack was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran
18Church in Champaign and a former member of Zion Lutheran
19Church in Ashkum; he was a charter member of the Ashkum Lions
20Club; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jim Hack took pride in making several trips to El

1Salvador with Habitat for Humanity International and Thrivent;
2he also helped rebuild homes after Hurricane Katrina and
3helped build the Cristo Rey Lutheran Church in Santa Ana,
4California; with a background in construction, he made a huge
5impact during these trips and is remembered especially for his
6leadership, work ethic, and big heart; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jim Hack was recognized with a Habitat for
8Humanity Award for Solidarity for his work in El Salvador; he
9was also a recipient of the Champaign News-Gazette's Seventy
10over 70 award this year; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jim Stack loved his 1985 Mastercraft ski boat,
12especially when he was with family every summer on Bull Shoals
13Lake in Arkansas; he also enjoyed attending his
14grandchildren's activities; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jim Hack was preceded in death by his parents and
16his brother, Ronald Hack; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jim Hack is survived by his wife of almost 60
18years, Barb; his two sons, Kevin (Tara) Hack and Gordon (Lisa)
19Hack; his one daughter, Pamela (Jeff) Scott; his six
20grandchildren, Bryan (Regan) Hack, Andrew Hack, Jeremy
21(Frances) Hack, Nathan (Valerie) Hack, Evan Scott, and Ella
22Scott; his two great-grandchildren, Auburn and Blakely Hack;

1and his brother, Alan Hack; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4James "Jim" G. Hack and extend our sincere condolences to his
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Jim Hack as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
