SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Douglas Lind Rokke of Rantoul, who passed away on January 15, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke was born in Libertyville to Reynold L. and Ruth P. (Schwerman) Rokke on April 22, 1949; he married Carol Seeber in 1972; he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Army Reserve, where he was involved in Vietnam and Desert Storm; he earned his doctorate from the University of Illinois in technology education; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke taught environmental science at the college level; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, where he often served as lector; he recently received the Life Time Achievement award from the Wall Street Journal Who's Who; he spoke on a national radio show, The Warrior Connection, where he interacted with numerous veterans; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rokke is survived by his wife, Carol; his sons, Matthew (Melynda) and Mark (Jennifer) Rokke; and his grandchildren, Andrew, Lawrence, and Cade Rokke; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dr. Douglas Lind Rokke and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Rokke as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
