SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Darcella Leihokualoha "Darcy" (See) Peterson of Peoria, who passed away on December 16, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Darcy Peterson was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Thomas Nainoa Chong See Jr. and Tomiko (Arakaki) See on June 2, 1953; she graduated from Kalani High School in 1971; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Botany from the University of Washington; she married Stephen W. Peterson in Seattle on January 6, 1979; and

WHEREAS, Darcy Peterson devoted her life to raising her children and supporting her entire family; and

WHEREAS, Darcy Peterson volunteered in numerous areas at her church; in recent years, she traveled alongside her husband to several destinations, including Iceland, Egypt, and Peru, and she visited all six permanently inhabited continents; she also enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Hawaii; and

WHEREAS, Darcy Peterson was also known as "Hoku" to her family; she believed in the spirit of aloha that she learned growing up in Hawaii; she will be remembered as a generous, hard worker who was always willing to lend a hand; and

WHEREAS, Darcy Peterson is survived by her husband; her children, Lindy Peterson and Zachary Peterson; her mother; three sisters; a brother; two aunts; an uncle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Darcella Leihokualoha "Darcy" (See) Peterson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Darcy Peterson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
