SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard E. "Rich" Paxton of East Moline, who passed away on April 11, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Rich Paxton was born in Fairfield, Iowa to James O. and Dorothy L. Sloan Paxton on May 1, 1946; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and married Sherry Warren in East Moline on October 30, 1970; and

WHEREAS, Rich Paxton retired from John Deere after 30 years as a press operator; he was the co-founder of Centennial Rods and Street Machines and was a master at restoration and custom work and could fabricate anything; and

WHEREAS, Rich Paxton was affectionately known as "RP"; he enjoyed car shows and loved spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Rich Paxton was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary; and

WHEREAS, Rich Paxton is survived by his wife, Sherry; his son, Shawn (Corie) Paxton; his daughter, Becki (Wade) Pilon; his grandchildren, Darcie Pilon, Dawson Pilon, Kaylee Paxton, and Kelsey Paxton; and many special friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard E. "Rich" Paxton and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rich Paxton as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
