SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Walter J. Zmuda of Moline, who passed away on April 17, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Walter Zmuda was born to Joseph and Helen (Gruzecka) Zmuda in Moline on November 4, 1927; he earned his bachelor's degree at St. Ambrose College; he married Phyllis E. Craig in Moline on September 15, 1951; he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Walter Zmuda worked at Oscar Mayer in Davenport, Iowa and Newhouse Paper in Moline and retired from C.J. Duffey Paper Co. in Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, Walter Zmuda was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Moline, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever and was a lifetime member of the Elks; and

WHEREAS, Walter Zmuda enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved the outdoors; and

WHEREAS, Walter Zmuda was preceded in death by his wife; his sister, Bernice; and his brothers, Ben, Ed, and Joe Zmuda; and

WHEREAS, Walter Zmuda is survived by his son, Jim Zmuda, and his sister-in-law, Adeline Zmuda; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Walter J. Zmuda and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Walter Zmuda as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
