SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dale M. Gillan of East Moline, who passed away on May 1, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Dale Gillan was born in Mystic, Iowa to Melvin and Atta Mae (McMillan) Gillan on June 9, 1920; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he married Sylvia Stacey in Clinton, Iowa on April 16, 1976, and she preceded him in death on March 9, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Dale Gillan retired from International Harvester Works in East Moline in 1974; and

WHEREAS, Dale Gillan was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles; he enjoyed listening to music and gardening; he farmed in the Hillsdale area in his early years; and

WHEREAS, Dale Gillan was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his three brothers; his two sisters; and his stepdaughter, Estelle Goulet; and

WHEREAS, Dale Gillan is survived by his stepchildren, Joan Gargano, Maxine VanWick, Stacey Roberts, and Lory (Andrew) Duprey; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dale M. Gillan and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dale Gillan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
