SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Raymond Edward "Ray" Nelson of Moline,
4who passed away on May 1, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Nelson was born in Sherrard to Reynold and
6Katharine (Hausch) Nelson on March 26, 1932; he graduated from
7Sherrard High School and the Moline Institute of Commerce; he
8served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he married
9Sheila Rae Behm in Davenport, Iowa on August 24, 1957; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ray Nelson worked at the John Deere Foundry for
11over 27 years and retired in May 1986; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ray Nelson was a member of First Congregational
13Church; he volunteered with River Action; he was a counselor
14for Trinity SHIP; he enjoyed being with friends, walking,
15reading, and woodcarving; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ray Nelson's family was the most important thing
17to him, and he especially loved attending his grandchildren's
18sporting and other events; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ray Nelson was preceded in death by his parents
20and his infant daughter, Amy Rae Nelson; and

1    WHEREAS, Ray Nelson is survived by his wife, Sheila; his
2daughters, Marcia (Craig) Johnson and Lori Willhite (Jim
3Franks); his grandchildren, Kirsten (Emanuel Mendes) Johnson,
4Bryce Johnson, Alex Willhite, Erin (Ethan) Lafary, and Austen
5Willhite; his great-grandson, Henry Luke Lafary; and his
6sister-in-law, Phyllis (Gary) Ammeter; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Raymond Edward "Ray" Nelson and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Ray Nelson as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
