SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joanne Planek, who passed away on October 1, 2020 at the age of 84; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Planek was born in Chicago on December 24, 1935; she was one of six children; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Planek graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 1970; she obtained a PhD in Education in 1981; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Planek dedicated her career of more than 50 years in service to Catholic schools; she served in the roles of teacher, administrator, consultant, and government liaison; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Planek enjoyed the arts, traveling, and storytelling; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Planek shared her generous heart with family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Planek was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Planek; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Planek is survived by her children, Charles (Linda), Kathleen (George), Mary (Sean) Toohey, John (Mary), William (Kathleen), and Robert (Wendy); her grandchildren, Joanne (Andrew) Barkmeier, James Rolff, William (Allyson), Mary Jo Toohey, Charles, Emily, Elizabeth, Mary Kate, John (Isabel), Tom, Margaret, Kathleen, Annie, William, Ryan, Lilli, Maeve, Robert, and Caroline Planek; her great-grandchildren, Amelia, Charlotte, Susanna, and Mae Barkmeier, and Connor Planek; her brother-in-law, Thomas Planek; and her nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joanne Planek and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joanne Planek as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
