SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Edward R. "Ed" Elliott of Rock Island,
4who passed away on January 2, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ed Elliott was born in Allens Grove Township,
6Iowa to Nellie and William Elliott on May 22, 1924; he
7graduated from Rock Island Senior High School and served in
8the U.S. Army during World War II; he achieved the rank of
9sergeant and took part in the Battle of the Bulge; he received
10three Overseas Service Bars, the American Campaign Medal, the
11European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four
12Bronze Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished
13Unit Badge, and a World War II Victory Medal; he also received
14a letter of thanks from President Harry S. Truman; he married
15Eileen Wagner on October 2, 1948; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ed Elliott was a mail carrier in Rock Island for
17many years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ed Elliott was a member of the Fifteenth Avenue
19Christian Church in Rock Island and an avid fan of the Chicago
20Cubs; he enjoyed listening to baseball and football games and
21audio books; he and his wife enjoyed their weekends together
22at their cottage on the Mississippi River and spent their

1winters in Florida; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Ed Elliott was preceded in death by his wife,
3Eileen; his parents; his sister, Ellen Hockett; and his
4brother, James Elliott; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ed Elliott is survived by his sister, Dorothy
6Coulson, and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Edward R. "Ed" Elliott and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Ed Elliott as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
