SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert J. Towler of Rock Island, who passed away on July 16, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Robert Towler was born on December 26, 1933 and attended elementary and high school in Redwood Falls, Minnesota; he served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in forestry; and

WHEREAS, Robert Towler's work history includes the U.S. Forest Service in the Black Hills, the Lake County Forest Preserve, the Des Plaines Park District, and the City of Rock Island as Chief Horticulturist; and

WHEREAS, Robert Towler was a member of the Rock Island Horticulture Club and the Quad Cities Woodturners Club and a founding member of the Quad City Botanical Center; he was an avid volunteer for both Living Lands and Waters and Keep Rock Island Beautiful; and

WHEREAS, Robert Towler is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and his children, Kathleen, Kent, Kerm, and Kurt; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert J. Towler and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Towler as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
