SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Chris T. Mesiacos, who passed away on
4December 27, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chris T. Mesiacos was born in Garea, Tega,
6Arkadia, Greece on October 26, 1927; he arrived in the United
7States through Ellis Island aboard the Olympia on October 12,
81956; he married his wife Diamanto (Kallianiotis) on December
911, 1960, and they raised a loving family of three children in
10Aurora until her passing on March 15, 1980; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos was a machinist for 32 years with
12Seal Master/Borg Warner in Aurora; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos put an enormous amount of energy
14into community work; he served as Parish Council President of
15St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church in Aurora from 1973 to
161975; he served as President of the United Hellenic Voters of
17America (Aurora Chapter) and as President of Garea Society St.
18Kyriaki; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos was known as "Papou" by his
20grandchildren and loved having them with him at community
21events; his warm and gregarious personality was evident when

1he would regale everyone with stories of politics and events
2in Chicago and Aurora in great detail; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos was preceded in death by his wife;
4his parents; and his three brothers, Nicholas, Constantine,
5and John; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos is survived by his brother,
7Demetrios (Adamantia); his sister, Georgia; his children,
8Demetra Gikas (Aristidis), Maria Kaldis (Antonios), and City
9of Aurora Alderman Theodoros "Ted" Mesiacos (Ekaterini); his
10grandchildren, Aggeliki, Diamanto, Panagiota,
11Christos-Nicholas Gikas, Evagelos (Christina), Efterpie,
12Christos Kaldis, Diamanto, and Christos Mesiacos; and his many
13nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Chris T. Mesiacos, commend his service to the community, and
17extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
18who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Chris Mesiacos as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
