| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Larry Maholland, the former city | 4 | | administrator of St. Charles, who passed away on September 7, | 5 | | 2021; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Larry Maholland was born to Bill and Betty | 7 | | Maholland in Peoria on November 4, 1945; he married Sharon | 8 | | Altman in Manteno on September 4, 1971; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Before coming to St. Charles, Larry Maholland | 10 | | worked for Streamwood and the Arlington Heights Park District; | 11 | | he worked as a finance director for St. Charles beginning in | 12 | | 1982; he became the first city administrator of St. Charles in | 13 | | 1997; he was largely responsible for the successful First | 14 | | Street Redevelopment Project, which envisioned a public space | 15 | | where people could live and work and shop; he announced his | 16 | | retirement as city administrator in 2005, having served the | 17 | | city for 22 years; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, Larry Maholland worked part time | 19 | | in the local government services division of the consulting, | 20 | | technology, and accounting firm Sikich LLP for five years; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Larry Maholland remained active with the St. |

| 1 | | Charles Rotary Club; he was an emeritus director of the St. | 2 | | Charles Public Library Foundation; he helped found and | 3 | | volunteered with the River Corridor Foundation; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Larry Maholland will be remembered for his love | 5 | | of St. Charles and his commitment to bettering his community; | 6 | | and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Larry Maholland was preceded in death by his | 8 | | parents; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Larry Maholland is survived by his wife, Sharon; | 10 | | his son, Michael (Rebecca); his grandchildren, Isaac, Ada, and | 11 | | Emilia; and his sister, Judy Terando; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Larry Maholland and extend our sincere condolences to his | 15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 16 | | further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of Larry Maholland as an expression of | 19 | | our deepest sympathy.
