SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Larry Maholland, the former city administrator of St. Charles, who passed away on September 7, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Larry Maholland was born to Bill and Betty Maholland in Peoria on November 4, 1945; he married Sharon Altman in Manteno on September 4, 1971; and

WHEREAS, Before coming to St. Charles, Larry Maholland worked for Streamwood and the Arlington Heights Park District; he worked as a finance director for St. Charles beginning in 1982; he became the first city administrator of St. Charles in 1997; he was largely responsible for the successful First Street Redevelopment Project, which envisioned a public space where people could live and work and shop; he announced his retirement as city administrator in 2005, having served the city for 22 years; and

WHEREAS, In retirement, Larry Maholland worked part time in the local government services division of the consulting, technology, and accounting firm Sikich LLP for five years; and

WHEREAS, Larry Maholland remained active with the St. Charles Rotary Club; he was an emeritus director of the St. Charles Public Library Foundation; he helped found and volunteered with the River Corridor Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Larry Maholland will be remembered for his love of St. Charles and his commitment to bettering his community; and

WHEREAS, Larry Maholland was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Larry Maholland is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Michael (Rebecca); his grandchildren, Isaac, Ada, and Emilia; and his sister, Judy Terando; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Larry Maholland and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Larry Maholland as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
