SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Frank M. Zuccarelli of South Holland,
4who passed away on January 3, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was born to Marjorie and James
6J. Zuccarelli on October 29, 1951; he graduated from
7Thornridge High School and served as a medic in the U.S. Air
8Force in Vietnam from 1969 to 1972; he graduated from Thornton
9Community College (South Suburban College) in 1978; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli's love for his community was
11deeply reflected in his work; he created programs that had an
12impact on many of all ages, providing jobs, health services,
13and food assistance; Thornton Township ran a massive food
14pantry in Harvey under his leadership; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was elected to the South
16Suburban College Board of Trustees in 1978 and served as
17chairman since 1987, during a tenure that saw the school grow
18into the third-largest community college system in the United
19States; he served as supervisor of Thornton Township since
201993 and as Thornton Township Democratic Committeeman since
212002; and

1    WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was an early supporter of
2then-U.S. Senate hopeful Barack Obama in 2004 and was an
3essential backer for many candidates looking for a boost from
4voters in Chicago's south suburbs; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was awarded the Township
6Supervisor of the Year in 1996, 2007, and 2012; he received the
7ICCTA service award in 2019, recognizing his 40 years of
8service as a trustee; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was a constant pillar of
10strength and support to those he loved; he will be remembered
11for his unwavering loyalty and giving heart; he fought for the
12underdog and, for him, it was about serving others; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli was preceded in death by his
14parents and his brother, James T. Zuccarelli; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Frank Zuccarelli is survived by his siblings,
16Candace (the late John) Paun and Kenneth V. Zuccarelli; his
17longtime girlfriend, Carmen Canales; his uncle, Robert
18Boskovich; his aunts, Dawn (Bill) Brown, Sharon (Michael)
19Myszak, and Denyse (Jim) Taylor; his nephews, John and Joe
20(Sarah) Paun; his nieces, Marjorie (Greg) Alexander and Lorrin
21Paun; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Nadia Paun, Junior
22Paun, Jocelynn Paun, Beau Paun, Dane Paun, Lilly Alexander,

1Zac Alexander, and Johnny Paun; numerous cousins and friends;
2and his chosen son, Nate Fields; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Frank M. Zuccarelli and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Frank Zuccarelli as an expression
10of our deepest sympathy.
