SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marilyn Ann Secor of Savoy, who passed
4away on January 11, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn Secor was born in the borough of Brooklyn
6in New York City to Bernhard and Anna Backie Bensen on February
718, 1936; she graduated from Fort Hamilton High School; she
8loved music and was part of a singing trio that traveled around
9the New York area singing in various churches; she continued
10to be involved in church choirs and singing in church
11throughout her life; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Marilyn Secor married William LeRoy Secor on
13August 25, 1956, and they lived all over the country before
14settling in the Champaign and then Savoy areas; they moved to
15the Windsor of Savoy in 2016, where Marilyn was involved in the
16church group, playing the piano for the services there; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marilyn Secor enjoyed being a homemaker and was a
18lifelong member of the Evangelical Free Church denomination;
19she liked sewing, making crafts and being involved in
20Christian Women's Clubs and Women's ministries in the various
21churches her family attended; she loved to keep in contact
22with her extended family and especially loved being "Nana" to

1her two grandsons; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Marilyn Secor was preceded in death by her
3husband of 63 years, Bill; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Marilyn Secor is survived by her daughter and
5son-in-law, Deborah Ann (Secor) and Les Kurz, and her
6grandsons, Andrew and Daniel Kurz; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Marilyn Ann Secor and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Marilyn Secor as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
