SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Martha "Marti" Morrow-Vojacek of
4Chicago, who passed away on June 20, 2021, which was her 85th
5birthday; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek, alongside her family, lived
7in different locations in New England throughout her
8childhood; she was a piano student since childhood; she
9attended high school and Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana,
10and she met her first husband, Robert Morrow, at the latter;
11they moved to Hyde Park in Chicago in 1957; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek was a singer in the
13Disciples of Christ church choir; upon meeting her second
14husband, Joe Vojacek, she became involved with the performing
15arts at the University of Chicago; she sang with and sewed
16costumes for the university's Gilbert & Sullivan Operetta
17Company; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek earned her Bachelor of Arts
19and Master of Arts in English Literature from Roosevelt
20University in Chicago; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek worked as an administrative

1assistant for the University of Chicago Divinity School and
2International House for 20 years before retiring in 1998; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek was a baker, a reader, a
4cinephile, a quilter, and a crossword puzzle player in
5retirement; she shared her husband's passion for collecting
6antiques, and they traveled together to find perfect pieces;
7she enjoyed visiting her daughters, and one of her favorite
8memories was a 3-week trip to Vienna, Austria in 1989; she also
9enjoyed sharing her favorite recipes with her daughters; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek moved to Oak Park in 2004,
11where attending her grandsons' school plays became her
12newfound passion; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marti Morrow-Vojacek is survived by her husband
14of 38 years, Joe Vojacek; her daughters, Deborah (the late
15Phillip Kaldon), Rebecca, and Lisa (Benjamin Weinberg); and
16her grandsons, Elias and Leo Morrow Weinberg; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Martha "Marti" Morrow-Vojacek and extend our sincere
20condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
21her; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Marti Morrow-Vojacek as an
3expression of our deepest sympathy.
