SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dennis E. Grant of Georgetown, who passed away on January 08, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Grant was born to Norman Grant Sr. and Rosalie (Walker) Grant on May 02, 1955; he graduated from Georgetown High School in 1974; he completed Heavy Equipment Operator Apprenticeship through Local 841; he was previously married to Brenda English, and they had a son, Cory Grant; he then married Teresa "Tee" Porter on December 19, 1982, and they added Clayton Grant to their family in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Grant built roads and bridges for many years; he became a stay at home dad after a serious car accident, which enabled him to play a major part in raising most of his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Grant was a corvette enthusiast; alongside his wife Tee, he was a lifetime member of the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky; they also enjoyed attending the Labor Day Celebration in Kentucky for many years and Mid America in Effingham; he enjoyed riding his Harley and made many new friends riding on many benefits and memorial rides, and he often spent Sundays with his riding friends; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Grant was known for helping others to a fault, having a great sense of humor, and loving to dance when the opportunity arose; most of all, he loved his family and was proud of each and every one of them; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Grant was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Lucille Smith; his youngest brother, Gregory Grant; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Connie Porter; his brothers-in-law, Ken Johnson and Brent Lock; his nephew, Eric Klein; and his special friends, Hugh Brooks and Renee Pajak; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Grant is survived by his wife, Teresa "Tee" Porter Grant; his sons, Cory Grant and Clayton Grant; his grandchildren, Khayd Grant, Rylan Grant, Dayton Grant, Tegyn Grant, Brasken Grant, and Jazelle Grant; his great-granddaughter, Katana Grant; his brothers, Norman Jr., Cary (Jane), Darrell, and Tyrone; his sisters, Judy Dargin, Patricia Johnson, and Deborah Grant; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike (Kathie) Porter, Kevin (Denise) Porter, Marsha Lock, and Joe Porter; his special nephews, Jeremy "Jboye" Johnson, Sean Bracey, James Dargin Jr., Kelton Sandlin, Maciah Grant, Nevan Grant, Levi (Kaitlin) Porter, Dusty Porter, Jerry (Leeann) Porter, and Dominque Chavira; his special nieces, Casey (Bere) Shutes, Codi (Kristen) Lock, Kerri Grant, LaTeesha Davis, Janene Grant, Shelby (Mitchell) Ummel, Jacqueline Dargin, and Lacey Ford; and his special honorary family members, Hayden Stal, Jace Bina, Bryan Jones, Addelaye, Aiden, and Dezi; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dennis E. Grant and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dennis Grant as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
