SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Hughetta C. Hill of Springfield, who passed away on December 1, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Hughetta Hill was born to Hugh and Ida Hitt Ford in Hillsboro on April 14, 1935; she graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield; she served in the U.S. Air Force for three years until she was honorably discharged; she continued her growth and education by periodically completing courses at Lincoln Land Community College; she married Frederick A. Hill, and they had two daughters, Michelle and Cheryl; and

WHEREAS, Hughetta Hill spent the majority of her professional career working first at the Illinois State Department of Revenue and then the Internal Revenue Service, where she last served in Taxpayer Services before retiring; during her career, she received many performance awards, special acts of service recognitions, and leadership accolades; and

WHEREAS, Hughetta Hill was a dedicated member of Union Baptist Church, where she was honorably appointed a church mother and proudly participated in the White Rose and Overall Missionary Circles; she will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and

WHEREAS, Hughetta Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick A. Hill; her parents; her father-in-law, Edgar Hill; her mothers-in-law, Ruth Hill Thomas and Rachel Hill; and her sister, Barbara J. Day; and

WHEREAS, Hughetta Hill is survived by her daughters, Michelle L. Hearn (John) and Cheryl K. Hill; her grandsons, Jonathan Hill and Reverend Jarrod Hill (LaKesha); her great-grandchildren; her brother, David Ford; her special brother, Robert J. Day; her special sister, Deborah L. Ford; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and friends; her UBC family; and other very special people who became family in her heart; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Hughetta C. Hill and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Hughetta Hill as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
