SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Joan F. Evers of Edwardsville, who
4passed away on January 19, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joan Evers was born to Edward and Cleo (Kinder)
6Foehrkalb in Granite City on August 11, 1936; she graduated
7from the University of Southern California; she married
8Kenneth L. Evers in Edwardsville on May 29, 1971, and he
9preceded her in death on September 26, 1996; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Joan Evers worked in her parents' stores,
11Foehrkalb Printers and Foehrkalb's Gift Shop, in downtown
12Edwardsville after her college graduation; she then worked at
13Florists' Mutual for 40 years, retiring as a vice-president of
14Outside Sales; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joan Evers became very active with the Friends of
16the Wildey organization and the renovation of the Wildey
17Theater in Edwardsville; she enjoyed being the historian of
18the Wildey Theater, giving tours, speaking to several
19organizations, and volunteering many hours at the theater; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Joan Evers was also active in supporting the
21Madison County Historical Society Museum and the Friends of

1Lovejoy Library; she spent over 40 years of her life as a
2church organist on Sundays; she also played for the
3Edwardsville Rotary Club each week, where she was a member;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joan Evers was known for her kind heart and
6willingness to always help others; she will be remembered for
7being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joan Evers was preceded in death by her husband
10and parents; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joan Evers is survived by her sons, Scott (Janna)
12Evers and Kenny (Cheri) Evers; her grandchildren, Matt (Kara)
13Evers, Kevin Evers, and Emily (Josh) Whitt; and her
14great-grandchildren, Kenlee Evers, Connor Evers, Dreamer
15Whitt, and Journey Whitt; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Joan F. Evers and extend our sincere condolences to her
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
