SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of M. Dennis Turner of Danville, who
4passed away on January 26, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was born to A. Martin and Beulah
6Radebaugh Turner in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 9, 1932;
7he attended Danville High School, Danville Junior College, and
8Eastern Illinois University; he served in the U.S. Army during
9the Korean War; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dennis Turner returned to the family farm after
11his military service; he expanded the farm's dairy herd and
12became more involved with Prairie Farms Dairy, the cooperative
13through which the farm's milk production had been marketed for
14several years; during the years that he had a dairy herd,
15several hundred Danville school children toured the dairy
16operation at the family farm; he also endeavored to use
17conservation practices when farming the Sesquicentennial
18Family Farm soil to leave it better than when he began his
19tenure as the farm's steward; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was elected to the Board of
21Directors of Prairie Farms Dairy and served for 21 years; he
22also represented Prairie Farms on the Board of Directors of

1the Illinois American Dairy Association; during this time, he
2was asked to serve on the Vermilion County Farm Bureau Board;
3he was also asked to serve on the building committee for the
4new Vermilion County Center for Agriculture when it was built;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dennis Turner served as secretary of the Water
7Authority Board and was one of three Blount Township citizens
8to be appointed to serve as a trustee of the Blount Township
9Water Authority when it was organized in 1994; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was a member of Farmers Chapel
11Church, and he served as treasurer and trustee chairman of the
12Building Fund; he was also a member of the Robert Wurtsbaugh
13Chapter of Korean War Veterans Association, where he served on
14the honor guard; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was immensely proud of his family;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dennis Turner was preceded in death by his
18parents; his brother, Dale (Jackie); and his infant twins,
19Norman and Norma; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dennis Turner is survived by his wife, Mabel; his
21sons, Robert (Robin) Turner and Steven (Tara Bray) Turner; his

1daughter, Donna Carrigan; his grandsons, Chris (Katie), Tyler,
2and Travis Turner; his granddaughters, Kayla (Alex) Rosdail,
3Kelsie (Tyler) Cunningham, and Lacey (Aaron) Fessler; his
4great-grandchildren, Hayleigh Fessler, Hayden Fessler, Myla
5Cunningham, and Austin Cunningham; his several nieces and
6nephews; and his good friend, Jerry Edwards; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9M. Dennis Turner and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Dennis Turner as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
