SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Patricia Jane "Pat" Oliver, who passed away on March 12, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Pat Oliver was born to Robert L. Smith and Dwighla (Rice) Smith in Taylorville on February 26, 1948; she graduated from Stonington High School; and

WHEREAS, Pat Oliver retired from the City of Decatur; after retirement, she opened Patricia's Sewing Sensation; and

WHEREAS, Pat Oliver was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and beloved friend; she was loved by all who met her and could light up a room with her smile and laugh; she was known for having a talent for arts and crafts and sewing and for helping others; and

WHEREAS, Pat Oliver was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Smith, and her sons, James Mark Buchanan and Steven Earl Buchanan; and

WHEREAS, Pat Oliver is survived by her husband of 25 years, Bill; her sons, Robert Buchanan and Michael Oliver; her mother, Dwighla; her brother, Larry Smith; her sister, Karen Mahan; her grandchildren, Ryland, Declan, Mya, and Vanessa; her best friends, Pam, Roxanne, and Tricia; and her many extended family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Patricia Jane "Pat" Oliver and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Pat Oliver as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
