SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Albertus G. "Bert" Barber of
4Springfield, who passed away on March 22, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bert Barber was born to Albertus Gaylord and
6Thelma Barber in Decatur on July 11, 1931; he attended Bement
7High School and was raised in Milmine; he was married to Mary
8Kay Ray for 35 years, and they had two children, Claudette Kay
9and Gwen Ellen; he married Deloris Barber on October 20, 1990;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bert Barber worked at Bement Grain Fertilizer &
12Chemical and Spencer Chemical Company in Milmine, later known
13as Gulf Oil; he was the manager of the Gulf Oil Fertilizer
14Plant for 10 years; he was a very successful salesman in the
15fertilizer business for many years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bert Barber enjoyed traveling, hunting, and
17riding snowmobiles with family and friends; he will be
18remembered for being outgoing and having a great wit; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bert was preceded in death by his parents; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bert Barber is survived by his wife, Deloris

1Barber; his children, Claudette Kay (Donald) Garber and Gwen
2Ellen Gotkowski; his grandchildren, Jennifer Kay Garber,
3Justin Robert (Shannon) Gotkowski, and Blake Elliott
4Gotkowski; his great-grandchildren, Jason Gotkowski, Jack
5Gotkowski, Joshua Gotkowski, and Liliana Gotkowski; his
6nephew, Gaylord Hendrix; his brother-in-law, Richard (Joan)
7Walter; his sister-in-law, Ellen (Gary) Ahrens; his several
8nieces and nephews; and his great-nieces and great-nephews;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Albertus G. "Bert" Barber and extend our sincere condolences
13to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Bert Berber as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
