SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Albertus G. "Bert" Barber of Springfield, who passed away on March 22, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Bert Barber was born to Albertus Gaylord and Thelma Barber in Decatur on July 11, 1931; he attended Bement High School and was raised in Milmine; he was married to Mary Kay Ray for 35 years, and they had two children, Claudette Kay and Gwen Ellen; he married Deloris Barber on October 20, 1990; and

WHEREAS, Bert Barber worked at Bement Grain Fertilizer & Chemical and Spencer Chemical Company in Milmine, later known as Gulf Oil; he was the manager of the Gulf Oil Fertilizer Plant for 10 years; he was a very successful salesman in the fertilizer business for many years; and

WHEREAS, Bert Barber enjoyed traveling, hunting, and riding snowmobiles with family and friends; he will be remembered for being outgoing and having a great wit; and

WHEREAS, Bert was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Bert Barber is survived by his wife, Deloris Barber; his children, Claudette Kay (Donald) Garber and Gwen Ellen Gotkowski; his grandchildren, Jennifer Kay Garber, Justin Robert (Shannon) Gotkowski, and Blake Elliott Gotkowski; his great-grandchildren, Jason Gotkowski, Jack Gotkowski, Joshua Gotkowski, and Liliana Gotkowski; his nephew, Gaylord Hendrix; his brother-in-law, Richard (Joan) Walter; his sister-in-law, Ellen (Gary) Ahrens; his several nieces and nephews; and his great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Albertus G. "Bert" Barber and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bert Berber as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
