SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Olive Mobed, who passed away on May
417, 2021 at the age of 96; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Olive Mobed and her twin brother were born in
6Coventry, England on December 24, 1924; and
 
7    WHEREAS, After the Second World War, Olive Mobed graduated
8from nursing school and then specialized in both eye care and
9midwifery; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Olive Mobed started her nursing career in
11Birmingham, London and soon moved to Iran to teach midwifery
12as a member of the World Health Organization; and
 
13    WHEREAS, In Iran, Olive Mobed met and married her husband,
14Jehangir (John) Mobed; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Olive Mobed and her husband moved to the United
16States in 1963, where she worked as a nurse in the obstetrics
17departments of hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts, Washington
18D.C., and Jacksonville, Florida, before settling in River
19Forest in 1969; and

1    WHEREAS, Olive Mobed continued her career as a nurse at
2West Suburban Hospital until her retirement in 1986 and
3continued to serve as a volunteer for 20 years; and
 
4    WHEREAS, As an adventurous traveler, Olive Mobed toured
5much of Europe as well as more exotic locales, including Egypt
6and Nepal; in addition to experiencing new cultures, she was
7an avid reader, tennis player, and pianist; and
 
8    WHEREAS, As an active member of the community, Olive Mobed
9contributed to a local charity group that supported the
10British Home and was a member of the Berean Bible Students
11Church in Lombard and later First Presbyterian Church of River
12Forest; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Olive Mobed is survived by her three children,
14Parvine MacDonald and her husband, Mark, Sue Arends and her
15husband, Dan, and Jim Mobed and his wife, Henrike; her eight
16grandchildren; and one great-grandson; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Olive Mobed and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
20friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

2deepest sympathy.
