SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Susan L. Cane of Springfield, who passed away on March 8, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Susan Cane was born in Springfield on November 13, 1942; she was the daughter of Lee and Pearl (Nation) Benanti; she married Raymond Cane in Springfield on June 19, 1971; she earned her Bachelor of Arts from Carthage College; and

WHEREAS, Susan Cane started her teaching career at Riverton Community Unit School District #14; she taught 3rd grade at Farmingdale Elementary School before retiring after 40 years; and

WHEREAS, Susan Cane was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Flower City Chapter No. 152, Order of the Eastern Star; she had a passion for flowers and enjoyed tending her gardens; she loved playing the piano; her biggest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Susan Cane was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Adysen Lowery; and

WHEREAS, Susan Cane is survived by her husband, Raymond; her daughter, Heidi (Adam) Lowery; her granddaughter, Adalyn Lowery; her brother, Wayne (Sandy) Benanti; and her nephews, Trent and Travis Benanti; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Susan L. Cane and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Susan Cane as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
