SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald Ray Griffin of Easton, who
4passed away on October 1, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Griffin was born to Stanley and Dorothy
6(Melton) Griffin in Pekin on November 1, 1934; he served in the
7U.S. Army; he married Ethel Kay Krohn at Sand Prairie Lutheran
8Church on January 29, 1955; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Donald Griffin farmed his whole life; he also
10worked as a janitor for the Havana School District for 19
11years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Donald Griffin was a member of St. Paul's
13Lutheran Church in Havana and the Mason County Pork Producers;
14in Iowa, he was a leader in 4-H and was active on the Delaware
15County Fair Board; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Donald Griffin was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and
17Chicago Cubs fan; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Donald Griffin was preceded in death by his
19parents and his sister, Phyllis (Willard) Birkmeier; and

1    WHEREAS, Donald Griffin is survived by his wife; his
2children, Jody D. (Mike) Hogan and Michael S. (Valerie)
3Griffin; his grandchildren, Travis (Brittany) Hogan and Eric
4Griffin; and his great-grandson, Henry Hogan; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Donald Ray Griffin and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Donald Griffin as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
