SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald Ray Griffin of Easton, who passed away on October 1, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Donald Griffin was born to Stanley and Dorothy (Melton) Griffin in Pekin on November 1, 1934; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Ethel Kay Krohn at Sand Prairie Lutheran Church on January 29, 1955; and

WHEREAS, Donald Griffin farmed his whole life; he also worked as a janitor for the Havana School District for 19 years; and

WHEREAS, Donald Griffin was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Havana and the Mason County Pork Producers; in Iowa, he was a leader in 4-H and was active on the Delaware County Fair Board; and

WHEREAS, Donald Griffin was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan; and

WHEREAS, Donald Griffin was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Phyllis (Willard) Birkmeier; and

WHEREAS, Donald Griffin is survived by his wife; his children, Jody D. (Mike) Hogan and Michael S. (Valerie) Griffin; his grandchildren, Travis (Brittany) Hogan and Eric Griffin; and his great-grandson, Henry Hogan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald Ray Griffin and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Griffin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
