SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bruce King of Moline, who passed away on February 20, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Bruce King was born to Frank and Doris (Funk) King in Moline on April 21, 1936; he graduated from Moline High School; he served as a machinist's mate second class in the U.S. Navy for four years; he married Gloria Brandt at First Christian Church in Moline on June 1, 1963; and

WHEREAS, Bruce King worked as a driver and mechanic at Standard Forwarding, retiring after 35 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Bruce King and his wife, Gloria, enjoyed dancing, traveling, and following local bands, especially The Crooked Cactus Band; in his younger years, he coached baseball; and

WHEREAS, Bruce King was preceded death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Bruce King is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria; his children, Kevin King, Julie (David Davis) Smith, and Kristi (Adam) Trent; and his grandchildren, Eric (Raymond Marquez) Straw, Evan Smith, Kenzie Trent, and Kallie Trent; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Bruce King and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bruce King as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
