SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

105 ILCS 5/2-3.157 new

Amends the School Code. Provides that federal funds received for supplemental educational services under Title I of the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 may only be used to fund supplemental educational services. Prohibits the State Board of Education from applying for a waiver from the federal government to use funds received for supplemental educational services under Title I for other programs.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 2-3.157 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/2-3.157 new)

Sec. 2-3.157. Federal funds for supplemental educational services. Federal funds received for supplemental educational services under Title I of the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 may only be used to fund supplemental educational services. The State Board of Education is prohibited from applying for a waiver from the federal government to use funds received for supplemental educational services under Title I for other programs.
