HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Melvin L.
4Paris of Machesney Park, who passed away on March 3, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Melvin Paris was born on December 27, 1944, in
6Oklahoma City; his parents were Harold L. and Hazel Paris; he
7married Charlotte Johnson on September 30, 1972, in Green City,
8Missouri; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Melvin Paris served our country with pride as a
10member of the United States Marine Corps; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Melvin Paris was employed by Sundstrand for 32
12years until his retirement in 1999; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Melvin Paris was a past president of UAW Local 592
14and the current president of the UAW Building Association; he
15had served on the Rockford Sanitary District Board and the
16Winnebago County Board and was a former Harlem Township
17Recorder; he served as financial secretary of the Labor Day
18Parade Committee and Democratic Caucus; he was also a member of
19R.U.L.; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Melvin Paris was preceded in death by his parents;

1his stepfather, Pat Goucher; and his brother, Terry Goucher;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Melvin Paris is survived by his wife, Charlotte;
4his son, Brent Paris; his grandchildren, Kayla and Katelin
5Paris; his stepmother, Velma Paris; his sisters, Deb (Don)
6Johnson and Deanna (Larry) Butterbaugh; his brothers, Mike
7(Cathy), Bill (Sandy), Randy, Larry (Fran), and Allen Paris,
8Kenny (Mitzie) and Ronnie (Linda) Douglas, and Darryl, Norman,
9and Timmy (Marlene) Goucher; his special friend, Betty Stewart;
10and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
14Melvin L. Paris; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Melvin Paris as an expression of our
17sympathy.
