HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sacred Heart-Griffin High School junior Ryan Held on his recent success in the sport of swimming; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Held won the 50-yard freestyle and set a new record at the YMCA Nationals swim meet in Greensboro, North Carolina, on April 3, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Held finished in 19.92 seconds, becoming the first swimmer to go under 20 seconds at the meet, a personal best; previously he finished second in the 50-yard freestyle at the Illinois High School Association State meet in February; his previous best time in the 50-yard freestyle was 20.27 as he placed second at the State meet; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Held put up All-American times in both the preliminaries and finals in the 100 yard freestyle and won the State championship with a time of :44.43, beating his nearest competitor by a full second; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ryan Held on winning the 50-yard freestyle and setting a new record at the YMCA Nationals swim meet; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ryan Held as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
