HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Williamsville Junior High School Softball Team on winning the 2013 Illinois Elementary School Association Class AA State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Williamsville Junior High Softball Team showed incredible composure and the ability to handle adversity in their desire to achieve their goals by beating Riverton in the Regional Championship and Dunlap in the Sectional Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Williamsville Junior High Softball Team achieved a collective batting average of .466 for the season; and

WHEREAS, Leading pitchers Olivia Felts and Payton Long threw 7 no-hitters and 4 perfect games to lead the attack on their opponents during the season and to enable the team to post a record of 29-1, while outscoring their opponents 349-41; and

WHEREAS, The team was led by Coach Jones, Coach Ashbaugh, and Coach Mead throughout the regular season conference schedule, tournament play, and the championship game, where they won 6-4 over previously unbeaten Homer Glen Junior High School, a school nearly 3 times larger than Williamsville Junior High School; and

WHEREAS, The Williamsville Junior High School Softball Team members are Skylar Dees, Danielle Dennis, Olivia Felts, Andrea Fraser, Harleigh Gray, Leah Kluemke, Alex Leka, Payton Long, Mackenzie McCormick, Ashleigh McDermott, Kaileigh Moser, Kaylin Mumaw, Emma Newton, Laken Rockford, Maddie Sloman, Emma Walbert, Molly Walter, and Rylie Yard; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Williamsville Junior High School Softball Team on winning the 2013 Illinois Elementary School Association Class AA State Championship and recognize them on their many accomplishments during the season; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Williamsville Junior High School Softball Team as an expression of our esteem and respect.
