SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 2310/2310-665 new

    Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall undertake a study to determine the need for primary care physicians in Illinois to meet this State's current demand and to replace retiring physicians within the 5, 10, and 15 years following the study. Provides that the study shall also determine the State's future need for primary care physicians based upon the requirements of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Provides that the Department shall submit its report to the General Assembly on or before December 1, 2013. Repeals the provision on December 31, 2013. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and
5Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6amended by adding Section 2310-665 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 2310/2310-665 new)
8    Sec. 2310-665. Study; need for primary care physicians. The
9Department shall undertake a study to determine the need for
10primary care physicians in Illinois to meet this State's
11current demand and to replace retiring physicians within the 5,
1210, and 15 years following the study. The study shall also
13determine the State's future need for primary care physicians
14based upon the requirements of the federal Patient Protection
15and Affordable Care Act. The Department shall submit its report
16to the General Assembly on or before December 1, 2013. This
17Section is repealed on December 31, 2013.
 
18    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
19becoming law.
