SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Chester J. "Chet" Rybicki; and

WHEREAS, Chester Rybicki was born on March 25, 1916; and

WHEREAS, Chester Rybicki enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1942; he served his country during World War II until his discharge in 1945; and

WHEREAS, Chester Rybicki began his marketing career in Chicago in 1947; in 1960, he moved to Naperville with his family; he thereafter began commuting to Chicago, moving up to a new office in the Sears Tower upon its completion in 1973 until his retirement in 1975; and

WHEREAS, Chester Rybicki served with distinction as the Mayor of Naperville from 1975 to 1983; during his career, he was instrumental in Naperville's growth and development, especially during the 1970s and 1980s, and helped to build Naperville into a great place for families to raise children; since the beginning of his public service in 1962, he tallied 75 years concurrently on a number of township and Naperville boards and commissions, including the Naperville Plan Commission, the YMCA Board, and the Naperville Public Library Board; and

WHEREAS, Chester Rybicki was a member of the Rotary Club of Naperville since 1986; he was also a longtime member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Post 43; and

WHEREAS, Chester Rybicki was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Lillian ("Mickey"); and

WHEREAS, Chester Rybicki is survived by his children, Michael (Mary) Rybicki, John (Susan) Rybicki, and Cheryl (Raymond) Foster; his grandchildren, William Rybicki, James Rybicki, Dennis Martens, Elizabeth Foster, and Michael Foster; and his great-grandchildren, Ada and Henry; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Chester J. "Chet" Rybicki; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Chester Rybicki as an expression of our sympathy.
