SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Anne E. McElroy of Decatur, who passed away on February 28, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Anne McElroy was born on July 4, 1962, in Decatur; her parents were Richard and Elizabeth Anne "Betty" McElroy; and

WHEREAS, Anne McElroy began her career with the State of Illinois as the administrative assistant to the late Senator Penny Severns; she subsequently entered the hotel industry, beginning with her work with Tharaldson Enterprises as the Director of Regional Sales, and oversaw the sales and marketing efforts of many hotels throughout the country; in 2003, she returned to the State of Illinois as the Deputy Director of Personnel for the Illinois Department of Corrections; she ended her career as the Chief of Labor Relations for IDOC; and

WHEREAS, Anne McElroy was a member of Ss. James and Patrick Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Anne McElroy was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Anne McElroy is survived by her children, Colleen Alexandra Athey and Richard Hayden Athey; her sister, Ellen McElroy-Kenworth; her brothers, Michael (Lynn) McElroy, Patrick (Barbara) McElroy, and Timothy (Leslie) McElroy; her nieces and nephews, Hilary and Colin Runion, Byrnes Kenworth, Conor and Brennan McElroy, Matthew McElroy, and Dixie McElroy; her special cousin, Mary Adams; her ex-husband, Joseph Athey; and her many other relatives, friends, and co-workers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Anne E. McElroy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Anne McElroy as an expression of our sympathy.
