SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Stephen A. Paynic, who passed away on
4January 16, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stephen Paynic was born on December 19, 1923, in
6Granite City; his parents were Anthony and Frances (Kezele)
7Paynic Sr.; he married S. Jean Lightbody on February 9, 1952,
8at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wood River; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Stephen Paynic served his country as a member of
10the United States Army Air Force during World War II as a nose
11gunner on a B-24 bomber; he flew 29 combat missions and was a
12recipient of the Air Medal with 2 clusters; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Stephen Paynic served as a junior high teacher in
14Roxana Schools; he later served as principal at Rosewood
15Elementary School before his eventual retirement in 1984; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Stephen Paynic was a member of the Knights of
17Columbus and the Wood River VFW #2859; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Stephen Paynic was preceded in death by his
19parents; his brothers, Edward Paynic, Fr. Richard Paynic, and
20Anthony Paynic; and his sisters, Helen Eich, Julia Paynic, and

1Rose Marie Bowler; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Stephen Paynic is survived by his wife of 60
3years; his sons, Stephen Paynic, Brian (Brenda) Paynic, Gregory
4(Laura) Paynic, and Christopher (Mary) Paynic; his daughters,
5Catherine (Michael) Weaver and Diane (John) Herndon; his 18
6grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren; his brother, George
7J. Paynic, who passed away a few hours after his brother; his
8brother-in-law, Eldon Bowler; and his many nieces and nephews;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12his family and friends, the passing of Stephen A. Paynic; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Stephen Paynic as an expression of
16our sympathy.
