SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clara Eileen (nee Bruening) Kirkwood of Bunker Hill, who passed away on May 21, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Clara Kirkwood was born on December 6, 1923; she married William Kirkwood on December 21, 1945; and

WHEREAS, Clara Kirkwood worked at the Olin during the war; after the war she became a homemaker and raised her children; she was always helping in any way should could and helped raiser her grandchildren while their parents worked; and

WHEREAS, Clara Kirkwood enjoyed going to see her grandchildren participate in sports; she was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals fan; she never missed a game on tv and got to visit the new stadium during the Cardinals' championship season of 2011; and

WHEREAS, Clara Kirkwood was preceded in death by her husband; and

WHEREAS, Clara Kirkwood is survived by her daughters, Vicki Sehlmeyer, Billie Bauer, and Patricia Bushrow; her 7 grandchildren; and her 13 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Clara Kirkwood, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Clara Kirkwood as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
